California King Quilt

The failure on a California king is always at the foot. A standard king quilt is 96 inches long, and a Cal king mattress is 84 inches — leaving twelve inches to cover the foot end and drop, which sounds adequate until the quilt is pulled up at the head and there is nothing left at the bottom. Feet stick out. Every night.

This is cut 104 × 100 inches for the 72 × 84 Cal king mattress. The extra four inches of length over a standard king quilt is the entire reason the cut exists, and the 104-inch width gives 16 inches of drop each side on the narrower frame.

That length matters most on footboard beds and to anyone over about six foot, which is the sleeper the Cal king was designed for in the first place. A quilt that ends at the ankles undoes the reason you bought the longer mattress.

Cotton throughout: 200 thread count combed long-staple cotton face, 200 gsm cotton batting, cotton backing, OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certified. Quilted at a 1.5 in. diamond, eight stitches to the inch. Half-inch double-fold bias binding. Three pieces — quilt plus two king shams at 20 × 36 in.

Like any quilt at this size it is a substantial piece of laundry at 3.0 kg dry. Use a machine of 8 kg capacity or larger, wash cold on a gentle cycle, tumble low. Garment-washed before shipping, so it arrives soft and moves less than 3% thereafter.

Colours run across the neutral range — Alabaster, Bone, Fog Grey, Sable and Indigo — because a Cal king is a large expanse of one colour and a saturated shade at this scale takes over a room in a way it does not on a queen. If you want colour on a bed this size, the reliable route is a neutral quilt over sheets that carry it.

If your bed is a standard king, that is the shorter, wider cut and it is listed separately — the two are not interchangeable in either direction.
