Satin sheets in high-sheen polyester charmeuse — a low-friction surface kinder to hair overnight, and a glamorous finish for a dressed-up bedroom. Our satin sheets are 100% polyester charmeuse at 125 gsm, woven in a proper satin structure for full luster and slip, cut with a 16 in. fitted pocket and finished as a complete 4-piece set.

Satin sheets — the fiber matters, not the word
The single most useful thing to know before buying satin sheets: satin is a weave structure, not a material. In a satin weave, warp threads float over several weft threads before dipping under one, so nearly all the surface you touch is uninterrupted thread. That is where the sheen and the slipperiness come from. The fiber doing the floating can be polyester, nylon, silk or cotton, and the price differs by an order of magnitude between them — which is why fiber content, not the word “satin,” is the thing to read.
This set is 100% polyester charmeuse — a satin weave in polyester filament, not silk. It gives you the look and slip of silk at a fraction of the price, with the trade-offs that come with the fiber.
Why satin sheets are kinder to hair
What the weave gives you is a very low-friction surface, and the practical benefits are real: less drag on hair overnight (which matters most to curls, extensions and fine hair prone to breakage), and less creasing pressed into skin from the fabric. Satin sheets have become the standard bedding choice for anyone protecting a blow-out, growing out a fringe, or dealing with morning bedhead.

Honest trade-offs with satin sheets
A synthetic satin is less breathable than a woven cotton, so it can sleep warm — worth knowing if you already run hot. And the smooth surface that is kind to hair is also slippery under a duvet, which may migrate off the bed at 4am. Neither is a defect, but both are worth knowing before ordering. If breathability matters more than sheen, a cotton sateen set gives similar smoothness with more airflow.
How to care for your satin sheets
- Wash cool on a gentle cycle (max 30 °C)
- Tumble low or hang to dry
- Keep away from anything abrasive — long floating threads snag easily
- Iron only if needed, on a low synthetic setting, from the reverse
- Wash with like colors; charmeuse can catch dye from cottons
Satin vs silk — which is right for you
Looking for the same slip in a natural protein fiber? That is silk, and it is a different product at a different price. Silk breathes better, is naturally temperature-regulating, and lasts longer if cared for correctly — but it costs several times as much and needs specialist laundering. Polyester satin sheets get you 80% of the aesthetic and much of the hair benefit at everyday prices. Cross-shop our mulberry silk sheet set for the natural alternative.
Frequently asked questions
Are satin sheets good for hair?
Yes — the smooth surface produces far less friction than woven cotton, so hair slides across the pillow instead of catching. That protects blow-outs, reduces breakage on fine hair, and helps preserve curls overnight.
Are satin sheets the same as silk?
No. Satin is a weave; silk is a fiber. Most satin sheets on the market are polyester woven in a satin structure — beautiful and affordable but not natural silk. Ours are labeled as polyester charmeuse.
Do satin sheets sleep hot?
Polyester satin is less breathable than cotton, so warm sleepers may find them oppressive in summer. In cool bedrooms or through the cooler months, they sleep at a comfortable temperature.
Do satin sheets slip on the bed?
They can. The smooth surface that reduces friction on hair also reduces friction between the flat sheet and the duvet — a common cause of duvet migration overnight. Choose a duvet cover with corner ties to hold everything in place.
