What made-to-measure custom linen curtains actually do A made-to-measure panel is cut to the distance from your track to your floor, taken at three points across the window because floors are rarely level, and finished so the hem lands exactly where you want it — a half-inch float, a soft break against the boards, or a deliberate 3 in. puddle. On linen that precision matters more than on any other cloth, because linen is heavy enough to show the error and honest enough not to hide it. Any heading — three-finger pinch pleat, goblet, wave, cartridge, rod pocket, tab top or reinforced eyelet. Any width, made up in multiples of the cloth width with the seams falling behind a pleat so they are invisible. Interlining: the upgrade nobody offers ready-made Interlining is where a made-to-measure curtain separates itself completely from a ready-made one. A layer of brushed cotton bump between face and lining adds body, weight and a soft rolled fold that no unlined panel can produce, and it improves both the thermal and acoustic performance of the window. It is the single upgrade we recommend most often and the one nobody offers off the shelf. Non-standard windows: templates for shape Bay windows, arched heads, sloped reveals, dormer cheeks and doors are all made from a paper template posted out on order. Everything is machine-run on the long seams and hand-finished at the hems, corners and headings — because a machine-blind-stitched hem on linen shows as a dotted line in raking sunlight and a hand-slipstitched one does not.
