This is woven at 110 gsm against a voile’s 60, in a slightly textured ground that scatters light instead of transmitting it cleanly, and finished at a 3% openness factor. That combination reads as translucent rather than transparent: daylight passes and the view does not.

The evening behaviour is the reason to spend the difference. A 5% voile with a lamp behind it shows the room in clear silhouette; at 3% and this weight, what a passer-by sees is a lit rectangle and vague movement. It is not blackout and it is not a substitute for a lined curtain in a bedroom — but for a room where nobody is undressing, it is genuinely sufficient, and it saves you a track, a second set of panels and the cost of both.

Cloth: 70/30 polyester-linen for stability

The cloth is a polyester-linen blend at 70/30, which is a deliberate compromise: the linen brings the irregular slub that makes the light interesting, the polyester brings dimensional stability so a single unlined panel does not lengthen in a damp room and shorten in a dry one. A pure linen sheer will move by an inch across a season; this will not move at all.

Construction: 118 in. wide, railroaded seamlessly

Woven at 118 in. wide, so anything to 108 in. drop is railroaded seamlessly. Hem is 3 in. double-turned with a fine sewn cord weight. Sides are French-seamed, which on a sheer is not optional — an overlocked edge on a translucent cloth shows as a dark stripe down both sides of every panel.
