Why liners go unwashed for years

Threading two layers onto twelve hooks is the most tedious job in a bathroom and it is the reason liners go unwashed for years. Every hook takes both the curtain and the liner, the two sets of grommets never quite line up, and the whole thing has to come down together. So it does not come down.

How a snap-in shower curtain liner solves it

A snap-in liner removes the problem by hanging from the curtain instead of from the rod. Twelve press studs along its header button onto matching studs sewn behind the curtain’s own header, so the curtain carries both layers and only the curtain touches the hooks. The liner unbuttons in about fifteen seconds, goes in the machine, and buttons back on wet.

The behaviour change: washed monthly, not replaced annually

That single change is the difference between a liner washed monthly and a liner replaced annually, which is both the cheaper and the considerably less disgusting outcome.

The hidden-liner visual advantage

It also fixes a visual detail that bothers people without their being able to name it. With a conventional two-layer hang, the liner’s top edge is visible above and between the rings, showing a strip of plastic across the top of the window of the shower. Snapped in, the liner sits an inch below the curtain header and is completely hidden — from the room you see cloth and nothing else.

Marine-grade stainless studs, not plated brass

The studs are marine-grade stainless, not plated brass. This is a permanently humid application and a plated stud corrodes green within a year and stains the cloth around it. Ours are set through a reinforced double header on both pieces.
