The panel is 3-pass acrylic-foam coated cloth at 290 gsm bonded to a light non-woven backing that gives it enough body to sit flat without a frame. It cuts to size with household scissors and does not fray, so one panel covers any window smaller than its cut size. Supplied at 57 × 78 in., enough for most single windows, with a full perimeter of adhesive-backed loop tape and a spare metre of tape in the pack.

Four minutes to fit

It takes about four minutes to fit. Clean and dry the reveal, press the loop tape around the perimeter, trim the panel to the opening plus half an inch, press it on. It peels off and re-attaches hundreds of times, rolls up to about the size of a rolled magazine, and weighs under 500 g — which is what makes it the thing parents pack for a week away.

Adhesive rating and unsuitable surfaces

The adhesive is a high-tack acrylic rated for painted plaster, sealed timber, UPVC and tile. It is not rated for wallpaper, textured emulsion or raw plaster, and it should not be used on those — the tape holds and the wall surface does not.

Colours and care

In Alabaster on the room face, so it reads as a plain blind rather than as a black rectangle, and black on the window face. Wipe clean with a damp cloth; do not machine wash a bonded panel.
