Light gets into a room over the top of the curtain, down the two sides, and under the hem — and all three of those are gaps created by a panel that is not the size of the opening. A ready-made curtain cannot close them because it was cut before anyone saw your window.

Made to measure closes all three by construction. The drop is cut to your exact floor-to-track measurement taken at three points, so the hem sits half an inch clear of an uneven floor along its whole width. The width is made up to the full track length plus a wrap return at each end, so the panel turns back and touches the wall rather than stopping in mid-air. And the heading is made for the track it will hang on, with overlap arms at the centre.

Side channels — for a room that has to be genuinely black

For a room that has to be genuinely dark — a nursery, a shift worker’s bedroom, a media room — we also fit side channels: a slim aluminium U-profile screwed to the reveal, with the curtain edge running inside it. That is the only domestic method that eliminates side bleed completely, and it is the difference between a dark room and a black one.

Every cloth, every heading, any window shape

Choose from any cloth in the range: 3-pass coated at 290 gsm, triple-weave at 240 gsm, velvet at 380 gsm, linen with a bonded liner, or faux silk with a separate one. Any heading — pinch pleat, wave, grommet or rod pocket. Any drop up to 144 in. and any width; bay windows, arched heads and sloped reveals are all made from a template.

Process and 14-day lead time

The process is a measuring guide sent on order, a template posted back for anything non-rectangular, and a 14 day lead time from confirmed measurements. Every panel is made to the confirmed figures, so measure twice — a made-to-measure curtain cannot be exchanged for a different size.
