Cotton is the everyday runner

Linen is the considered piece; a cotton table runner is the working one. It goes on the family table for a Tuesday supper, comes off, hits a 60 °C wash with the kitchen towels, and goes straight back on for Wednesday. Fully machine-washable, forgiving with children in the room.

Different fabric brief than linen

100% cotton in a woven flat weave, weight 180–200 gsm. Softer initially than linen, but doesn’t strengthen the same way with washing — expect a 5-year life on a cotton runner versus a decade on a linen one. What you gain: heat tolerance, colour range and lower price.
